Business/IT Departments & Projects

At Lakeland Regional, our business and IT departments are essential partners in our efforts to deliver quality healthcare and great patient experiences. Whether your role is behind-the-scenes or working directly with our patients, you are viewed as an important part of our team.

IT:
Healthcare IT professionals collaborate with clinical staff members to create faster and more efficient information exchanges for test results, diagnoses, treatments and discharges. We’re always looking for those who can demonstrate strong clinical knowledge along with IT expertise. Currently, our Cerner-Lawson professionals are spurring best practices in areas such as project management methodology and security framework, while Citrix specialists are leading a range of technology infrastructure projects.

Finance:
Here’s where Lakeland Regional integrates clinical demographic and charge data with cost information to perform department and patient costing, service line profitability and analysis, and flex budget reports based on shifts in mix and volumes. We also manage and coordinate the creation of all system clinical indicators, resource protocols and clinical pathways, working with case managers/QI staff/DONs and other operational leaders.

Billing & Government:
When you bill anywhere from 15,000 to 20,000 claims each day, an efficient and accurate billing review process is necessary for ensuring proper billing and collections. The department also works to collect outstanding insurance, approximately 50 to 70 accounts per day per person.

Managed Care:
Professionals in this area support the delivery of healthcare to residents of the greater Lakeland community through efficient and effective relationships with insurance companies. Employing strategic consulting techniques, Managed Care works to increase reimbursements, promote compliance and serve as an operational liaison between the hospital and its payors.

Patient Access:
The busy Patient Access department handles an average of 630 patient registrations each day, processing patient information, insurance authorizations and patient discharges.
